The Outsiders

I had read the book gone with the wind numerous times, and there was this poem.A specific poem that stayed with me since my very first time reading the book.I couldn't quite grasp the whole meaning of the poem but i felt a type of connection between the writer of the poem and i. I felt as if the poem was written especially for me.But there is a specific part of the poems i completely understood which was nothing  gold can stay.

''Natures first green is gold,Her hardest hue to hold,Her early leafs a flower;but only so an hour so Eden sank to grief, so dawn goes down to day, nothing gold can stay''My fellow gang member johnny and i could easily relate to the poem which is why i love it so much.

Johnny and i represented the innocent gold that eventually changed over time.As one of my best friends closed his eyes forever he said his final words to me.As his voice bluntly faded he told me to forever stay golden.Ever since then i had loved the poem even more than i did before.

Every since i can remember there was always rich versus poor but to us it was soc versus greaser.greaser. Soc lived in the nice part of town with the nice cars and houses. But for all greasers we lived in the slums of the cities. It was always told that soc were better and had more than we did, so we thought.

Their girls were different than ours, homes were different and classes were different. It seem as if we lived in totally different dimension. As.As i got to know a soc i noticed that we were quite similar and we enjoyed many of the same interest and values.

As i grew older i realized why my older brother Darryl always fussed at me so much he was trying to form me into a man and im thankful for him .He helped form me into the person i am today but as a kid i just thought he enjoyed yelling at me.but everything he did for me helped me later on in life.
